Flame (2013)

Flame was originally commissioned by a private client for a house in Cadaqués on the Costa Brava in Spain. The home’s visual theme drew loosely on a Moroccan aesthetic, featuring bare plaster walls, stonework, and decorative tiles. The chandelier was designed to hang above a long dining table crafted from a single slice of a North African tree trunk.

Using carefully selected vintage amber glassware—cups, plates, dishes, and other pieces associated with dining, I created a linear light that echoes traditional Moroccan clustered lighting. My intention was to evoke the warmth of Mediterranean evening sunlight.

The composition of the chandelier is inspired by the flickering form of a flame: a warm, dense, luminous core that releases gentle streams of light. The lowest pieces of glassware align perfectly along a clean horizontal line, while the upper pieces gradually decrease in size and spacing, mimicking the tapering ascent of a flame.

Flame is produced in two formats: linear and circular.
